Moukoko is silent about his BVB future

If those responsible at Borussia Dortmund have their way, Youssoufa Moukoko should mature into the big faces of the club in the future. But the young BVB striker recently flirted with a premature farewell. Now the 17-year-old is persistently silent.

“I don’t want to say anything about that,” replied Youssoufa Moukoko when asked by “WAZ” about his future in black and yellow after the U21 national team’s 4-0 win against Hungary. The attacker had scored the opening goal to make it 1-0 (17th), it was his fourth goal in the third game for the junior team.

While U21 head coach Antonio Di Salvo puts his faith in the youngster, he has had a mixed season at the club. There was only one starting XI appearance under Dortmund head coach Marko Rose in the Bundesliga, and 15 short appearances after substitutions were added. After all, Moukoko scored two goals, including the 2-1 win in the last home game against Hertha BSC, which gave BVB a conciliatory end to the season.

While Moukoko was not too keen on being asked about Borussia Dortmund, where he is only contractually bound until 2023, he told “WAZ“It’s clear how comfortable he feels with the junior selection. “I really like being here with the U21s, it’s good for me.”

“Decent chance” for Moukoko to stay at BVB

In the game against Hungary in Osnabrück, the team wanted to “give something back” to the more than 5,000 fans who had traveled there. Jonathan Burkhard (31st), Tom Krauss (76th) and Lazar Samardzic (90th) provided the further goals and ultimately also ensured that the DFB selection bought the ticket for the European Championship early.

BVB managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke recently revealed in an interview with “Ruhr Nachrichten” that the club would love to extend his exceptional talent. Watzke also relies on Rose’s successor Edin Terzic, who has “a very good relationship” with Moukoko.

“There’s a decent chance” that Moukoko will extend, explained the Dortmund official, who at the same time restricted: “Youssoufa will make the final decision.”
