Former Italian soccer player Thiago Motta is no longer the coach of the Italian first division club Spezia Calcio.
As the club confirmed on Tuesday, the collaboration ended after just one season by “mutual agreement”. Motta (39), whose three-year contract concluded in the summer of 2021 was terminated, had led Spezia to stay up in the league.
Luca Gotti, ex-coach of Udinese Calcio, is traded as his successor.
For Motta it was the second station as a senior coach. In 2019, the former midfielder and European runner-up from 2012 was released after just two months at Genoa FC.
As a player, Motta, who was born in Brazil, had played for FC Barcelona, Inter Milan and Paris St. Germain, among others.
