The third and final practice session on the Sakhir Desert Track in Bahrain took place on Saturday before the time trial.

Max Verstappen watched the best time again, though he clearly missed his pace on Friday night. Ferrarin Charles Leclerc was second before Red Bull’s second ever Sergio Pérez.

Mercedes seemed to have improved its performance a bit. George Russell was already the fourth fastest Lewis Hamilton grabbing sixth place just before Valtteri Bottasta.

– I still don’t feel comfortable in this car. It understands a lot of slow bends, Russell complained.

Team Manager Toto Wolff Indeed, Sky Sports acknowledged that Mersu’s difficulties have already reduced his quality of life.

– I’ve slept better sometimes. I always wake up sometimes wondering what we could do better, Wolff said.

– There are a lot of smart people in the stable who know how to tackle our problems.

Wolff once again assured that this time the problems with the Silver Arrow are genuine. So no magical improvement in pace should be expected when the time trial starts at 5 p.m.

– From a psychological point of view, it is important that we lower our targets. At the moment, they are quite down, and we still face them humbly.

– I don’t enjoy this at all. I would prefer a second faster than others and ride the sunset. You can call this either a “challenge” or a “problem,” but in either case, things just can’t be left to it.
