The Tutors are devices that measure the average speed of vehicles on some Italian motorways, in order to prevent excess speed and reduce accidents. They are installed on approximately 2,500 km of motorways, mainly on the A1, A4, A13 and A14 arteries. In 2019 they were present on 420 km of motorway, in 2020 on over 1,000 km and in 2021 on 1,400 km, with a total of 134 sections under surveillance. The speed limit on the motorway is 130 km/h, unless otherwise indicated, and the penalties for exceeding the limit are quite severe. Tutors are active only in certain time slots and are indicated by special road signs. That’s where the active ones are located.
