Racing driver Sophia Flörsch was subsequently disqualified in the junior racing series Formula 3 after her first drive into the points.
The 22-year-old from Munich had originally finished ninth in the race in Spielberg, Austria, but was stripped of this position hours after crossing the finish line. A post-run inspection found that Flörsch’s car had broken technical regulations. The stewards noted an offense at the front wing endplates.
Flörsch started 21st and was able to work her way up the field in her best race of the season at the Red Bull Ring. She would have been the first woman in the racing series to score any points at all. On Saturday in the sprint, the driver from the PHM team had to settle for 19th place against the exclusively male competition on a wet track.
