Mick Schumacher has to look for a new employer after leaving Haas in Formula 1. A move to Mercedes is now considered a promising option. Ex-racer Marc Surer considers the possible move to the Silver Arrows to be a great opportunity.
Mick Schumacher will not be a regular driver in Formula 1 next season. Instead, the 23-year-old will probably only have the role of reserve driver in the motorsport premier class.
Mercedes have already announced their interest in Mick Schumacher. “He’s a German, he goes incredibly well with the star. I think he deserves a place in Formula 1. Now we have to see if we can do something,” said team boss Toto Wolff on the sidelines of the season finale in Abu Dhabi opposite “Sky”.
At Mercedes, Mick Schumacher could learn behind record world champion Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, and then try again in 2024.
“Imagine the chance if one of the two [Hamilton oder Russell] falls ill, then suddenly he can probably drive one of the best cars,” Marc Surer drew a scenario for “Champ1” and added: “You absolutely have to take this opportunity.”
“They kicked him out, that’s how it is”
Haas officially bid farewell to Schumacher after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The speech by team boss Günther Steiner was rather cool.
“Finally you fire an employee, say a few words of praise, but that’s all. What do you want to say? That you’re sorry that you have to let him go? Please, they kicked him out, that’s how it is.” , Surer assessed the situation.
Instead of Mick Schumacher, Nico Hülkenberg will take a seat in the Haas in the coming Formula 1 season. The German returnee’s teammate is the Dane Kevin Magnussen, who will be entering his second season with the US racing team.
