A motorist was injured last night in a crash in a meadow in De Kwakel. According to local residents, this is the umpteenth time that a motorist ends up in the field.
The accident happened around 8:50 p.m. The motorist came from the Hoofdweg and should have turned left or right at the Fire Line, but went straight ahead, down the dike and into a meadow. The car plowed over the grass, left a trail of about fifteen meters and came to a stop with minor damage.
The residents of the house in the photo were at home when the accident happened. The split is infamous, a resident tells NH Nieuws anonymously. “This is about the twentieth time it has gone wrong,” she says, “in a span of forty years.” The distance the motorist has traveled through the meadow is also no exception. “That happens often.”
Smoothness
Especially when it is slippery, residents are worried. Because there is a ditch between the meadow and the house, they are not afraid of a car reaching their living room. The woman does remember an accident with a fatal outcome. “That was a cyclist who crashed at the intersection and landed on his head, about three years ago.”
According to the woman, the driver was ‘quite drunk’ last night. Police today cannot confirm whether he was indeed under the influence. The woman says that the driver was helped out of the car by ambulance personnel. “He had serious back problems and was taken to hospital by ambulance.”
A tow truck pulled the car out of the pasture. This concerns a company car from a company that supplies security products to consumers and entrepreneurs.
