A motorist was injured in a collision with a train in Eijsden on Wednesday morning.
The driver of the car became trapped, but remained responsive, according to a correspondent. The fire service had to free the victim.

The accident happened around 9:00 a.m. at the railway crossing at Stationsplein. The car was dragged several meters by the train. The vehicle was left behind between a house and the track.

The collision caused a lot of damage to the crossing, and the train was also damaged. The car is completely destroyed. Due to the accident, train traffic between Maastricht and Liège has come to a standstill.
The NS expects train traffic to be halted until 12:30 pm.
