Three Belgian cyclists ended up in hospital on Sunday after an accident on the Bergsebaan in Roosendaal. One of them, a 59-year-old man from Essen, was even so badly injured that he was transferred by helicopter to a hospital in Rotterdam.
The victims were part of a group of eleven cyclists who were hit by a motorist from Roosendaal around 9.15 am. In addition to the three riders who had to go to hospital, a number of others were treated on site for minor injuries.
Research
Police traffic specialists are investigating the cause of the accident. The road was closed for the investigation.
