For motorcycle racer Rob Hartog, the season starts in May. In this new motorcycle year, the thirty-year-old Enkhuizer is active in the IDM Superbike. He then rides on a 1000 cc engine. “Now I am about three seconds faster on a lap and that is an awful lot”.
“I have considerably more power, reach higher speeds and it requires a different driving style,” says an enthusiastic Hartog. Last season, the North Hollander still rode a 600 cc engine. Hartog belongs to the team of SWPN and was recently at the Assen circuit to test his new engine.
“The Assen circuit feels more like my home circuit”
Assen home circuit
You would expect that the Zandvoort circuit is the home track for the North Hollander. Yet that is not so. “Zandvoort is a car circuit. More races are held at Assen for motorcycles. It is almost two hours away, but it feels like my home circuit.”
NH Sport got a nice look behind the scenes during the test day in Drenthe. That resulted in the report above.
