Motorcycle racer Joey den Besten died in a crash on Sunday during a race in the Finnish Imatra in the IRRC (International Road Racing Championship) racing class. The Achterhoeker was 30 years old.
The organization of the race in Imatra reports via Twitter that Den Besten died after he lost control of his bike in the formation lap of the Superbike race. “Our deepest condolences go out to his family and fellow riders. He will be missed,” said the organization of the Imatra road races.
It is the second fatal accident this weekend. Dutch racing driver Dilano van ‘t Hoff was killed on Saturday at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The 18-year-old driver was involved in a crash in the second race and help on the track was of no avail.
