Francesco Bagnaia, the winner of the TT in 2022, has been immortalized with a bronze stone on the TT Legends Walk of Fame in Assen.
The Italian motorcycle racer and leader in the world championship unveiled the artwork together with Mayor Marco Out on Thursday afternoon at the TT Circuit. Bagnaia said he was honored that he now has a spot on the walk of fame in the city center of Assen.
,,I always feel happy when I come here, especially because of all the good memories”, Bagnaia said after the curtain was removed from the stone. Bagnaia recorded the first win of his career in 2016 on the TT Circuit. That happened in Moto3 at the time. “And last year’s victory in MotoGP marks for me the start of the comeback that eventually led to the World Championship title.”
The stone will soon be given a place among all the other winners of the TT in the center of Assen. Last year, the walk of fame was opened by Fabio Quartararo, the winner of the race in 2021. Quartararo then said that he imagined himself in Los Angeles, where stones are also made of celebrities and can be seen in the city.
The TT Legends Walk of Fame is an idea of Assen residents Willem Bakker, Ruud Wiersema and Rolf Sluiter. The intention is that in the coming years all winners of the TT will receive a bronze paving stone along a TT route that runs through the city center.
