January was a cold month and not only from a climatic point of view. Also due to the mix between the announcement effect of the purchase incentives and the sudden exhaustion of those dedicated to vehicles with internal combustion engines, the first month of the year closes with a slight decline, -1.1%, compared to January 2023 This is what we learn from the press release on the trend of monthly registrations released by Confindustria Ancma.

After 15 positive months, January 2024 therefore marks a first timid slowdown. In fact, the balance sheet for the month stops at 21,080 units sold, with a decrease of 1.12% on January 2023. The differences between the segments of the license plate are minimal, with motorcycles registering 9,370 vehicles and decreasing by 1.2 %, while scooters number 10,699 units, essentially the same as in 2023 (-0.23%). The trouble of mopeds is more evident, as they also pay for the poor performance of the electricity market: the “fifties” leave 100 units on the ground compared to 2023 with 1,011 vehicles put on the road and a decline of 9%.

Delays in the reactivation of the platform for booking incentives, which only started again on January 23, are holding back the electricity market. The month closed with only 356 units sold, equal to a drop of 58.99% on January 2023. The worst performance was that of scooters, which recorded a loss of 65.46 percentage points and 201 registered vehicles.
