Motor launched in collision in Heerhugowaard, driver seriously injured

The motorcyclist was seriously injured in a head-on collision between a car and a motorcycle in Heerhugowaarder. The motorcycle was launched by the impact and just missed landing in the water.

The police confirm this. The accident happened around 10.15 am on the AC de Graafweg (N241), just past the intersection with the Skarpetweg. Considering the damage to the car, the motorcyclist was hit by the left front of the car, possibly when the driver wanted to turn.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to fall onto the road. The motorcycle shifted considerably and ended up 25 meters further away. The two-wheeler just missed landing in the water, but got stuck in a reed bed on the Westerlangereis.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance. The driver of the car reportedly escaped unscathed. The car and motorcycle were both total losses and were collected by a salvage company. The road was closed for some time for emergency services and research, but has since been reopened.
