Marc Marquez is the undisputed protagonist of this start of MotoGP 2025: for the first time riding the official Ducati, the Spaniard left nothing on the street, climbing the top step of the podium in the first three sprints and in the two long races. At the Circuit of the Americas, among its favorite circuits, he was ready to repeat himself, taking from pole. A few minutes from the green traffic light, however, it creates a havoc suddenly returning to the pits to change the bikes. Strategy that was working before many drivers followed Marquez in the pits to change the bikes, actually forcing the race direction to delay the departure of 15 minutes. The epilogue for Marc was different from the premise, because the Spaniard – the author of a brilliant move – then fell to the ninth Giro slipping on a curb when he was a leader with over two seconds ahead of Bagnaia. Many thought of a sudden move of Marquez, dictated by the situation at the start. The Spaniard, however, explained at the end of the race how the decision was agreed with the box on the starting grid. And the MotoGP video testifies to it. Seven minutes from the start, he asks his track engineer Rigamonti to prepare the bike with the Slick tires, explaining how he intended to change it two minutes from the start of the race. In his forecasts, at least ten drivers would follow him to delay the departure. Otherwise, he would have started from the bottom of the grid, but would have recovered many positions thanks to the Slick tires and would have wasted less time in making the motorcycle change at the race in progress.
