Jeffrey Herlings suffered a serious foot injury in Spain on Monday. A day after he won the Spanish championship in Montearagon, he was injured during a training session. It is not yet clear how serious the motocross rider’s injury is or whether his season start in the MXGP will be jeopardized in three weeks.
Herlings sustained the foot injury because he jumped too short on a hump. The reigning world champion injured his foot.
He then immediately decided to stop training and fly back to the Netherlands for further medical examination.

The motocross rider is currently preparing for the start of the new season which will kick off on February 20 with a Grand Prix in England. Herlings will defend his world title in the MXGP next season, which he won in November in Mantova, Italy.
