Motocross rider Brian Bogers can compete with the best in MXGP this season. The 25-year-old from Eindhoven finished second in the first round of the Grand Prix of Portugal. The driver only had to tolerate the Spaniard Jorge Prado (GasGas) on his Husqvarna.
Bogers just managed to stay ahead of Slovenian World Cup leader Tim Gajser (Honda). Glenn Coldenhoff (Yamaha) from Oss crossed the finish line in fourth place. It was a strong comeback by Bogers, who had to skip the Grand Prix of Argentina two weeks ago due to a shoulder injury. He already finished fourth in the Grand Prix of Lombardy.
Jeffrey Herlings is also not there in Portugal. The reigning world champion is still not fully recovered from a foot injury. The Portuguese Grand Prix is the fourth race in the World Cup.
Kay de Wolf third
Kay de Wolf finished third in the first moto of the MX2 light class behind Frenchman Tom Vialle and Dane Mikkel Haarup. It was already the third podium place for the 17-year-old motocross rider from Eersel this season. Two weeks ago, he was out injured during the Argentina Grand Prix. However, Husqvarna’s Wolf was recovered in time to take part in the races at the dusty Agueda track.
