The MTA Racing Team will make MotoGP history at the Aragon Grand Prix: The Moto3 team will field an all-female crew at the race in September – a first in the 73-year history of the motorcycle world championship.
This is made possible by a wildcard entry by Spaniard Maria Herrera, who is supported by an all-women team. This is the next step in the partnership between MTA and Angeluss Women Sport Management.
The Angeluss Women Sport Management around CEO Aurora Angelucci and the MTA Racing Moto3 team started a cooperation at the beginning of the 2022 season, which should improve the presence of women in motorcycling.
“We are very excited to be launching an all-women team just a few months after the launch of Angeluss. It shows how much we believe in and invest in our project,” Angelucci said in a press release from the team.
“We are proud to do this with a very talented rider like Maria Herrera, who has raced at world level in different categories – Moto3, Supersport and now MotoE. As a fighter on the track and as a positive and happy person, Maria is a rider who really represents us.”
Herrera competed in the Moto3 class between 2013 and 2017. Her best result from this period is eleventh place at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island. The 25-year-old then rode in the Supersport 300 World Championship, Supersport World Championship and MotoE. In the electric racing series, she is 16th overall after eight of twelve races.
