Ogura, what are you doing? From almost world champion to possible great defeated in the moment of the blink of an eye. It all happens in the last lap of a Moto2 that in Malaysia sees the return to success two races away from the Thailand hurricane of Tony Arbolino, with the Milanese of the Marc VdS team starting like a rocket and, with the exception of one lap, he always leads the race, dragging only Ai Ogura behind him. Who started from pole position and, with 3.5 points ahead of Augusto Fernandez, the first match-point was played here in Malaysia. A race that could not have been more favorable than that for the Japanese of the Asia Honda team, given that Fernandez was unable to have the same pace, remaining entangled in 6th place behind Jake Dixon. At a certain point Ogura also took the lead, however, going wide shortly afterwards and being passed over by Arbolino.

Aoyama petrified

Ogura made up for it, however, and at turn 9 of the last lap he tried on Tony what would have been the overtaking with a mortgage on the World Championship, and instead here is the mistake you do not expect: the front that closes, the crash and the Japanese ends up in the grass of the escape route, literally petrifying Hiroshi Aoyama, his boss in the Asia team, who is also the last Japanese to have won a World Championship, in 2009 in 250 in front of Marco Simoncelli. With Arbolino finishing the last lap in a carriage, second at an abysmal distance, 11 “4, the Phillip Island winner, Alonso Lopez, then 3rd Dixon ahead of Augusto Fernandez, whom he thanks for the gift and with only one race to run takes the lead at 251.5 points, 9.5 more than Ogura. Third, at 200, Aron Canet, 8th at the finish line and a point in Valencia will be enough to seal the last step of the world championship podium, given that Arbolino, 4th in the general, is 24.5 points away.
