On the day when Celestino Vietti throws a golden opportunity to the wind to continue his escape in the world rankings, Tony Arbolino is ready to take up the baton, who in what is a growing start to the season, goes to to conquer the first victory in Moto2 on the Kalex of the Marc VdS team. A victory that for the Milanese took place at the end of lap 8, when Aron Canet, at that moment in a solitary breakaway, went down to turn 7, repeating the mistake committed three laps earlier by Vietti, who after a great start from second position on the grid, Cameron Beaubier had already entered the first corner, the American who the day before had made the Texas fans happy, the first Yankee to conquer a pole position in Moto2 and who then crashed right at the last lap when he was 4th.

It seemed that everything was easy for Vietti, while behind him, in the group, Somklat Chantra, the great protagonist of the last two races, combined a great disaster, missing the braking point and, in hitting the innocent Sam Lowes, triggering a carom that also saw Gabriel Rodrigo, Fermin Aldeguer and Zonta van den Goorbergh crash. Shortly after, Pedro Acosta too, at that moment 5th slipped away in the S of the first sector, re-entering the track and being miraculously dodged by Ai Ogura’s bike.

With Canet also out, Arbolino had an easy life at that point, for a catwalk that in the end saw him win with 3 ”439 over Ogura and 4” 787 over Joel Dixon. In the overall standings, Vietti remains firmly in the lead with 70 points, with Ogura 2nd at 56, then Arbolino at 54, Canet at 49 and Chantra at 45.
