Doha dresses up this weekend for the premiere of the most attractive MotoGP championship in recent years. It will be the 15th time that the MotoGP Motorcycle World Championship starts in Qatar, at the Losail circuit. At no other track has the championship started on more occasions.
Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner are the riders with the most victories in the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix (four each). Of the current pilots, only Andrea Dovizioso (2018 and 2019) and Maverick Viñales (2017 and 2021) They have achieved more than one victory in this Grand Prix.
Fabio Quartararo has never won or finished on the podium in his three previous appearances at the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix. He could become the first defending champion to achieve a victory in the first race of the following season since Marc Márquez in 2014.
Marc’s return
Marc Márquez has only won in one of his seven participations in the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix (2014), although he has finished on the podium five times, the last two consecutively (2nd in 2018 and 2019).
Marc Márquez has finished on the podium in three of his last four MotoGP races. His next podium in the highest category will be number 100a figure that has only been reached by three riders throughout history (Valentino Rossi, 199; Jorge Lorenzo, 114 and Dani Pedrosa, 112).
