In 2016, Jemma had just found out she was expecting her and Clive– from his spouse’s first child, when severe pain drove him to the doctor.

The doctor suspected an ectopic pregnancy. However, that was not the case. A suspected benign nodule was found on the ovary, for which Jemma was operated on around mid-pregnancy.

At the check-up, Jemma’s fears turned out to be true. The 21-year-old had fallen ill with ovarian cancer.

– It was only a grade 1 tumor that was classified as cancer. So there was no reason to worry, Jemma explains Stacey Dooley in Night Village in the program.

At the time of filming the episode, Jemma has been given a few months to live. Over

Four and a half years later, Jemma found the lump. At the time, she was heavily pregnant with her third child.

This time the situation was different. Cancer cannot be cured.

– I only remembered the words incurable, aggressive and exceptional, Jemma tells the shocking news.

“Not just gloom”

At the time of the filming of the program, a year has passed since Jemma’s diagnosis of stage four ovarian cancer. The cancer spread despite cytostatic treatment. Lifetime is given as a few months.

Jemma is still hopeful.

– I don’t think cancer will go away, but I think I can live with it for a very long time.

Stacey asks Jemma why she agreed to the program even though she doesn’t have many weekends left.

– I guess I wanted to show people that you can live a normal life even with cancer. My cancer is incurable, but I don’t think about dying all the time. This is not mere gloom.

Jemma has planned both a follower meeting and a birthday date with her spouse for the filming weekend. Stacey admits to the camera that she doesn’t meet his expectations of a terminally ill person.

– It confuses me that he is so busy despite his illness, Stacey wonders.

On the day I die

The episode we are watching today premiered in Britain on August 3. On the same day, Jemma died at the age of 29.

Daily Mail reported the obituary shared by Stacey Dooley on social media that day. According to Stacey, Jemma was really looking forward to the episode.

– My heart breaks. It was a pleasure to work alongside Jemma and we continued our relationship as friends. My thoughts are with Clive and the wonderful children.
