33-year-old Todisoa R. has to spend four years in prison for attempted manslaughter of her one-month-old baby. The court in Amsterdam Remained Monday at the same sentencing that the court imposed in 2022 in the high-profile case against the Madagascar woman.
In October 2014, R. dumped her baby in a garbage bag in an underground waste container in the Slotermeer district of Amsterdam. Because an observant passerby heard baby cries, the fire brigade was able to rescue the girl alive. She was then placed with a foster family. It was only seven years later that R. came into the picture as a suspect, after she had to provide fingerprints in Germany. These matched fingerprints found on the garbage bag. After DNA testing, it turned out that R. was the mother.
The court previously found that R. had committed a “very serious act”. Due to R.’s intellectual disability, there was a mitigating circumstance, which resulted in a lower sentence.
