Mother goes on vacation and leaves daughter home alone: toddler of 16 months passed away | Abroad

A 16-month-old child in the American city of Cleveland has died after her mother went on vacation and left her alone. The girl was found unconscious and ‘extremely dehydrated’ in her home.

31-year-old Kristel Candelario went on holiday to Puerto Rico for more than a week and had left Jailyn alone at home without care all that time. She is arrested and charged with murder.

Investigations show that the child had “no signs of trauma” and that the girl was “left alone and unattended for about ten days and then died,” police said. The toddler’s living space consisted of dirty blankets saturated with urine and feces.

The girl’s mother admitted to police that she had left Jailyn “home alone and unattended.”

‘Not the first time’

According to the neighbors, it is not the first time that Kristel left her child unattended. “We have told her so many times not to leave the child alone. Not only me, but also my girlfriend across the street has said that several times.”

The Candelarios’ neighbors are deeply saddened by the unnecessary death of the child. “She could have knocked here anywhere with a request to look after Jailyn,” says a neighbor.
