Most searched car brands on Google: placement of NASDAQ value Tesla surprised

Electric cars are becoming increasingly popular. The key driver behind the growing popularity is undoubtedly Tesla. According to data collection, the company is now in second place among the most searched car brands worldwide.

• Tesla the second most searched car brand
• Tesla wins search comparison in USA and Europe
• Cybertruck probably responsible for interest

Tesla is the second most googled globally

As TeslaMag reports, citing the Australian website Compare the Market, Tesla takes second place in a global ranking of the most searched car brands. Every year, the insurance portal selects the most wanted cars based on Google searches. In first place in this year’s evaluation is the Japanese manufacturer Toyota, which was most frequently searched for in 64 countries. According to the evaluation, Toyota performed best particularly in “Central and South Africa, West and Southeast Asia, Oceania and parts of South America”, while Tesla won the search comparison in 29 countries, including the USA and other European countries.

Cybertruck is causing a stir

According to the analysis, Tesla’s Cybertruck, which recently caused a stir, could be responsible for the increase in interest. Deliveries of the off-road vehicle, which looks like a vehicle from a science fiction film and, according to Tesla, has a towing capacity of 4,990 kilograms and a range of 547 kilometers, began at the end of November – but only in North America. As the Munich Merkur reports, the Cybertruck could potentially pose a safety risk for other road users due to its angular design. Therefore, approval in the EU with the existing regulations is rather unlikely.

Authority obliges Tesla to update

Less positive news concerns Tesla’s autopilot. As the US traffic regulator NHTSA recently announced, two million cars in the USA need to be repaired due to inadequate autopilot safety, otherwise there would be too high a risk of accidents. Specifically, this means that a new software update must be installed on the vehicles. Various models S, X, 3 and Y are affected. It probably won’t stop with the software update. The authority said it would continue the investigation to check the effectiveness of the measure.
