Most of the shipwrecks mapped

The inventory of the shipwrecks was done using sonar technology to create the nautical charts. Sonar technology detects large obstacles and objects on the seabed and converts them into 3D images. Objects under the seabed are not identified by the sonar.

“The wreck database currently contains more than 300 objects, including 55 shipwrecks recognized as heritage,” says provincial councilor Kurt Himpe.
