Most nuisance from staff shortage in Southwest Drenthe

Entrepreneurs in Drenthe most often have to contend with a shortage of personnel. At the start of this second quarter, at least four in ten entrepreneurs in the southwest and north of the province said they did not have enough workers. This is evident from figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

In Southwest Drenthe, 45.3 percent of entrepreneurs are struggling with a staff shortage. The shortage is greatest in that region of Drenthe. A year earlier, it was 14.1 percent. In the first quarter of this year it was 36.6 percent. In North Drenthe, the deficit is 40.8 percent, compared to 13.4 in the second quarter of last year. Also in Central Brabant, which includes Tilburg, the group of entrepreneurs with a staff shortage is relatively large.

Entrepreneurs in the East Groningen region, including the municipalities of Stadskanaal and Veendam, were relatively least likely to suffer from a shortage. This share is also considerably lower than average in Southeast Friesland (including Heerenveen).
