In the past year, Maastricht residents have complained the most about noise pollution in the entire province. The police received almost 2000 reports from the provincial capital.
It concerns the period between March 2021 and February 2022. The figures come from the police.
More nuisance during corona
In Limburg, with 9087 reports, slightly less noise nuisance was experienced in this second corona year than in the first corona year. Then 9296 noise reports came in. Since the first lockdown in March 2020, there have been more complaints nationally about noise pollution. In the same period before the corona outbreak, the police dug up 6,769 reports from this province.

Summer months noisy people
Especially in the summer months Limburgers are annoyed by noisy people. Last year, the month of June topped the list with 1150 reports. That month was also the most often hit for the corona, but with 750 reports, considerably less than in the past two years. During the first corona year 2020, the police received the most complaints in August with 1132 nuisance reports.
Experience little noise nuisance
But there are also municipalities where the nuisance appears to be proportionate. In absolute numbers, the municipality of Mook en Middelaar experienced little noise nuisance last year. There were 38 reports to the police. Relatively speaking, the least nuisance in the past twelve months was in the municipality of Maasgouw with 23.7 complaints per ten thousand inhabitants.
Incidentally, by no means all cases of noise nuisance end up with the police. Neighborhood mediation and, for example, hotlines in some municipalities also register and deal with noise nuisance.
