Moscow Mayor: “City target of drone attack, slight damage to buildings” | War Ukraine and Russia

“At dawn this morning, a drone strike caused minor damage to several buildings,” Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said in a Telegram post. “All emergency services of the city are on site.” According to the mayor, there have been no reports of serious injuries so far.

Moscow Oblast governor Andrey Vorobyov said on the same platform that anti-aircraft defenses had been activated and that they had shot down “some” drones “on their way to Moscow”. Various Russian Telegram channels report that four to ten drones were shot down, Reuters news agency reports, which has not been able to independently verify the reports.

Images of drones flying above the city and plumes of smoke in the sky can be seen on social media. It is currently unclear who is behind the drone attack. It may be a Russian ‘false flag’ operation.

LOOK. At the beginning of this month, two drones allegedly tried to attack the Kremlin

Earlier this month, the Kremlin was the target of a two-drone attack. They could be shot down and there was no damage or injuries, but the Russian authorities nevertheless labeled the incident as an attempt on the life of President Vladimir Putin. Kiev denied involvement in that alleged attack.

Moscow is more than 1,000 kilometers from Ukraine. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the capital has rarely been the target of drone strikes, unlike places elsewhere in the country. More later.
