Moscow imposes a travel ban on Johnson

MOSCOW (dpa-AFX) – Russia has imposed an entry ban on British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in response to Western sanctions as a result of the Ukraine war. Defense Secretary Ben Wallace and Secretary of State Liz Truss are also no longer allowed to go to Russia. A list published by the Foreign Ministry in Moscow includes the names of 13 British officials. Russia had previously issued entry bans against US President Joe Biden and leading representatives of the European Union, Australia and New Zealand.

The Foreign Ministry in Moscow accused the British government of “unprecedented hostile actions”. London is behind an “information campaign” aimed at isolating Russia internationally and damaging it economically. The new Western sanctions came into effect more than seven weeks ago, ahead of the start of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. The United States has also personally sanctioned Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and his Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as well as other members of the government./mau/DP/zb
