With the launch of a unified high-speed diameter, the ecological situation in Moscow should improve due to a 15-20% reduction in the content of nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide in the air. About it informed Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Policy and Construction.

“The opening of a single high-speed diameter will reduce the overrun of vehicles, as well as reduce the number of traffic jams on the roads of the capital, which cause the greatest damage to the environment,” the deputy mayor explained.

A single high-speed diameter will stretch from the Simferopol highway to the M-11 Moscow-St. Petersburg highway. The technical name of the route is “Moscow High-Speed Diameter”. It will be formed by combining the South-Eastern and North-Eastern chords. The 68 km route will pass through six districts of Moscow – Northern, North-Eastern, Eastern, South-Eastern, Southern and South-Western.

“According to preliminary estimates, after opening the high-speed diameter and reducing the load on the road infrastructure, the content of nitrogen dioxide in the air may decrease by 15%, and carbon monoxide by 20%,” Bochkarev cited the data.
