Moschino designer Davide Renne dies

Moschino creative director Davide Renne has died.

Renne has died at the age of 46, Moschino parent Aeffe SpA announced on Friday. The cause was not mentioned in the short message. He only started his new role as creative director of the Italian fashion house earlier this month and was due to present his first collection at Milan Fashion Week in February.

He came to Moschino from Gucci. He worked for the subsidiary of the French luxury goods group Kering SA for almost 20 years and was responsible for the women’s collections, most recently as head designer of womenswear. Before that, he held senior design positions at the Italian leather specialist Ruffo and the Italian brand Alessandro Dell’Acqua.

Renne succeeded Jeremy Scott

At Moschino, he was supposed to succeed Jeremy Scott, who left the fashion house in March after about ten years in the post as creative director. The American took over the creative direction in October 2013 from Rossella Jardini, who was the first female designer to take over the creative direction after the death of Franco Moschino in 1994.

After Scott’s departure, a 40th anniversary collection was celebrated as a tribute to Moschino, with four stylists Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Katie Grand, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson and Lucia Liu taking over the creative direction.
