Morocco hit by earthquake with magnitude 6.8 on Richter scale | Abroad

The quake occurred just after 11 p.m. at a depth of 18.5 km. The epicenter was located about 80 km southwest of the city of Marrakesh. According to the USGS, another shock followed about twenty minutes later, with a magnitude of 4.1. The epicenter was further south, about 50 kilometers northeast of the town of Taroudant.

Nothing is yet known about possible damage or casualties, although videos appear on social media of damage to homes and people running into the streets in panic.

The earthquake could be felt as far away as Casablanca, where an AD news employee said he was shaking in his bed. Some people have taken to the streets, especially mothers with babies no longer dare to enter.
