Morning ticker (27.12.2022)

the US futures started higher in today’s trading. Of the Dow Jones and the S&P 500 each rose over 0.50% during the Nasdaq 100 up 0.65%.

Asia-Pacific indices mostly traded higher. Of the Nikkei gained around 0.85% that kospi traded 0.50% higher, the S&P/ASX 200 was closed for a holiday.

Chinese stocks rose 1.0% as authorities lift corona quarantine regulations for overseas arrivals from Jan. 8.

the Futures on the DAX / DE30 point to a higher opening of the European session.

China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revised GDP growth for 2021 upwards to 8.4% from 8.1%.

Japan’s housing starts unexpectedly fell 1.4% yoy in November, missing market forecasts of +1.5% after a 1.8% drop in October.

Retail sales in Japan rose 2.6% yoy in November, falling for the second straight month and missing expectations of +3.7%.

Japan’s unemployment rate fell to 2.5% in November after 2.6% in the previous two months, in line with forecasts.

China’s central bank PBOC injected a total of CNY 206 billion in reverse repos into the banking system on Tuesday while leaving interest rates unchanged at 2% and 2.15% respectively.

The most important cryptocurrencies are trading slightly higher today. Bitcoin gains 0.3%, Ethereum increases by 0.4%.

energy resources are traded inconsistently – Brent and STI gain around 1.0% while the US Natural Gas Prices fall by 2%.

precious metals are traded higher – Silver increases by more than 1.0%, gold gains 0.35%.

Aud and NZD are the top-performing major currencies, while the USD and JPY fall the most.
