Moreno asks Sánchez for a compensation fund of 1,700 million agreed with the Valencian Community

The amount would be distributed proportionally for these two communities, Murcia and Castilla La-Mancha

The idea is that it be extendable until it is possible to give birth to a new financing law, which still seems to be a long way off

The president of the Junta de Andalucía dedicated a good part of his meeting with Pedro Sánchez to talk about regional financing. The main claim has not changed since its last meeting, in June 2021: the need for a new model that ends the underfinancing of the four autonomous communities that today suffer clear economic grievances: Andalusia, the Valencian Community, Murcia and Castilla La-Mancha.

Aware that a new financing law will be a complex process, “arduous & rdquor; In Moreno’s words, the proposal that the Andalusian president conveyed in Moncloa is the implementation of a transitory fund (extendable until the new definitive model sees the light) of 1.7 billion which would at least help compensate these regions. The cast, which Moreno claimed to have made “with the help of other communities” (those affected, pointing out a “clear coincidence” with the governments of Valencia and Murcia, and a lesser involvement in the Castilian Manchego case) would be as follows: 824 million for Andalusia, 648 for the Valencian Community, 196 million would go to Murcia and 65 to the Castilian La Mancha community.

The President of the Government “has taken note and will study it & rdquor ;, settled the Andalusian leader. But shortly after, the minister spokesperson, Elizabeth Rodriguezmade it clear that in the judgment of the Executive “autonomous financing cannot be patched”.

The President of Andalusia did not skimp on specific examples to insist on his request: “Andalusia has been suffering for 13 years from an unfair and obsolete financing model due to Zapatero’s algorithm agreed upon with ERC, which left many communities by the wayside & rdquor ;. According to Moreno, the Andalusian underfinancing reaches 11,000 million since the launch of this model, in 2009. “In 2020, the year settled, Andalusia received 965 million less than the average. Each Andalusian receives 114 euros less & rdquor ;, settled. The President of the Government “has taken note and will study it & rdquor ;, settled the Andalusian leader without further detail.

The other issues that were on the table were European funds, closely related to energy projects; and the request for a Transitory Compensation Plan that equalizes Andalusia with the average of the Autonomous Communities when it comes to receiving resources from the State. The President of the Board is especially concerned about the drought and looking for an urgent alternative to the situation of lack of rain and the impossibility of draining the aquifers.

In terms of energy, Moreno was very clear about his ambition: to turn his community into the first power in renewable energy. “We have optimal conditions to do it & rdquor ;, he affirmed, recalling that in 2021, 55% of the electricity generated was renewable and in Andalusia. The Andalusian president insisted that he will work to increase the energy self-sufficiency of his territory and advanced that “he will be able to double his capacity & rdquor; if they maintain the current rate.
