The President of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has recognized this Wednesday in Huelva that the date of the regional elections will depend on the regional and national economic situation and has warned of the difficulties of dealing with the current situation with an extended budget.
In statements to journalists in Huelva, Moreno has indicated that for months the Minister of the Treasury, Juan Bravo, has been warning him of the difficulties for Andalusia to face the current situation with an extended budget and he has insisted that “this is one of the aspects that is making me reflect the most and that could, if the situation continues like this, motivate that it could change”.
Today“elections are likely to be before the summer or early October; I will make a decision thinking about the interest of Andalusia; If from a technical point of view, and not a political one, they tell me that with these budgets we cannot move forward, I will make the decision that best suits Andalusians”, he said.
He pointed out that “we have already warned the PSOE and Vox that Andalusia needs some budgets for the European funds that have yet to arrive and are beginning to arrive, and above all to have instruments and be able to adapt our economy to inflation and to the circumstances that are being experienced as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine; that’s what can change my options.”
He continues to think, as he has pointed out, that he “would love to exhaust the legislature, that would be my dream, but, on the other hand, it is true that the legislature is practically and tactically exhausted in the month of June”.
Moreno has stressed that “If I thought about mine, I would probably go to the date I want, which is after the summer, but we will see how the situation goes.”
