The incident took place on Saturday evening. The kidnapped migrants are believed to be mainly Venezuelans seeking asylum in the US.

Mexico is located on the migration route between Latin America and the United States. Migrants who leave their home countries because of poverty, violence and political crises hope for a new start in North America. The route through Mexico is very dangerous for migrants. He found them in a vehicle on the highway between the cities of Monterrey and Matamoros. Two suspects escaped on foot.
