On the way to a fully recyclable sneaker. MONACO DUCKS is ready to break new ground and revolutionize the fashion industry. The Munich sneaker label is in the process of developing a completely recyclable sneaker. In order to steer the fashion industry in a new direction, the team around the two founders Julian Hermsdorf and Carl Warkentin question a lot and go new and different paths – from the manufacturing processes and material production to communication about the CO2 footprint of the sneakers and supply chain ethics. MONACO DUCKS combines innovation with design and sustainability.
MONACO DUCKS is now presenting four new, fresh summer colors: The sneaker MOD.3 vegan consists of a CO2-reduced leather alternative, which is made from leftovers from the Italian wine industry and is therefore 100% vegan.

A maximum of style, a maximum of good mood and a maximum of impact, that is the sneaker MOD.3 vegan by MONACO DUCKS. This is now available in four new, colorful versions for the summer: white-mint, white-sky, white-rose and white-lavender. It’s that easy to bring good design and uncompromising sustainability to the streets this summer.
100% vegan, 100% well thought out
The vegan minimalist from MONACO DUCKS is actually a maximalist. Because it has been thought through to the maximum. It impresses with the vegan leather alternative Vegea from the remains of Italian wine production. So not only does it conserve resources, but also upcycles the “waste” – in the truest sense of the word – into fine design. And that’s not all: In addition, there is the e-rubber sole made from recycled rubber soles and the footbed, which is also recycled, which provides more than comfort.
MONACO DUCKS relies on transparency in every respect. The sneaker MOD.3 vegan not only convinces with the vegan leather alternative, but also scores with the materials of the other components.
lining
The lining of the vegan sneaker consists of a newly developed material – OnSteam®: A bio-based microfiber that is 100% breathable and extremely absorbent – bye bye sweaty feet! Extremely comfortable, heat-regulating and of course free of chrome and certified Oekotex Standard 100.
upper
For the upper, MONACO DUCKS has teamed up with VEGEA®, who have developed an innovative material characterized by a high percentage of plant-based, renewable and recycled raw materials: grape residues from wine production, vegetable oils and natural fibers from agriculture. This is exactly what MONACO DUCKS uses as the upper material for the vegan sneaker. VEGEA® works closely with Italian wineries, so the material comes 100% from Italy. With the sneakers, MONACO DUCKS reduces the waste from the Italian wine industry and gives it a new use.
shoelaces
The laces are made from pure cotton and are therefore 100% natural. And not only that – they are also extremely hard-wearing and robust.
Heel Counter & Tongue
Why look for alternatives when the MONACO DUCKS team already knows a great material. Like the lining, the heel counter and tongue are made of Onsteam®, a 100% breathable microfiber.
Footbed/Insole
And what do customers like in their vegan sneakers? The footbed consists of a symbiosis of recycled and recyclable cork and recycled foam with antibacterial, anti-odor and anti-static properties. The removable footbed offers maximum comfort and supports the natural shape of the foot arch.
outsole
MONACO DUCKS decided on a sole made of E-rubber® so that MONACO DUCKS wearers can walk safely everywhere. This is made from 70% recycled rubber, which previously made running shoes robust. It is confirmed by PETA as 100% vegan, is REACH, CADS and GRS tested. All abbreviations that confirm that MONACO DUCKS always takes a close look, even when it comes to high standards.
