It has now become a tradition: the nativity scene exhibition in the Sint Willehadus Church in Emmer-Compascuum. This year there are more than a hundred copies in the church.
The nativity scenes come in all shapes and sizes. For example, there is a nativity scene in a Christmas bauble, but also in a shell or a walnut. “That is quite a work of art,” says Jannet Dijck of the organization. “Very special.”
The collection grows bigger every year. “Fortunately, we have been able to set up all the nativity scenes so far, but it is becoming increasingly difficult,” says Dijck. The nativity scenes do not only come from the Netherlands. “We also have stables from Hungary and Peru.”
