The most purchased ready-made food in Finland is the liver box, which has been produced since 1957.
According to a study by Saarioinen, more than 45,000 Finns eat liver box daily, but most of them eat liver box a few times a year.
Liver box is eaten equally in all age groups throughout Finland. Eastern Finland has the most people who buy at least once a month.
– More than 9 million boxes of liver boxes are sold annually, says the director of Saarioinen’s Kuluttajasperceives Tia Yrjölä in the bulletin.

According to Saarioinen’s research, more than a third of Finns like Maksalaitok as it is.
By far the most popular side dish is lingonberry jam, which about 60 percent of Finns like. The use of licorice jam is particularly emphasized in the target group of older consumers.
Instead, 18–34-year-olds eat a box of liver with ketchup and cottage cheese in addition to lingonberry jam.

– Liver box has been my go-to food since childhood. I never get tired of it. I love it. Even now, when I just talk about it, I immediately start to feel like a liver box, Pimiä laughs.
Pim never heats the liver box in the microwave, but always fry it in a frying pan. Then it will have a slightly crispy surface.
– I tip the liver box into the pan with the butter and then I start to mash it. I let some parts fry longer to give the food a crispy surface. It’s going to be shockingly good.
According to Pimiä, boxed meals are the DNA of Finnish eating.
