Inofec Open Tielt brings some big players to the Europahal for a three-day darts tournament. Stefaan Henderyck from Adinkerke is in 47th place in the Challenge Tour, an international competition. He narrowly misses out on a tour card for Professional Darts Corporation, the highest international level and circuit. “I was very close. I was only two points away from getting my tour card. It is very difficult and very harsh,” he says.
It is a dream to see the top players such as Mario Vandenbogaerde at work. But the tournament mainly wants to get as many people as possible interested in the sport. And today we also see the world champion at work here at the G-Darts, although in a slightly lesser manner. “I have now lost my match 4 – 3. My doubles went well, but my triples did not. If you keep your wits about you and have a little talent for throwing, you can go far,” says champion Vincent D’Hondt.
