A burst water pipe on Roerdompstraat in Westzaan has left several households without water for the time being. A number of cellars are also flooded. Water company PWN hopes that the situation will be resolved this afternoon.
“About 68 households are currently without water,” a PWN spokesperson said. This is due to a leak in a so-called distribution pipe. The cause of the leak has now been found and repairs are underway. “Hopefully it will be resolved around 3:30 or 4 o’clock this afternoon.”
Until then, no water comes from the tap in the homes. Due to the leak, several crawl spaces in the street were flooded with water. The main pipe has now been closed so that the rooms do not fill up further. The fire brigade is using several pumps to pump out the water.
