More than 500 South African miners are trapped due to conflict between unions

A group of more than 500 South African miners have been trapped underground for more than 36 hours due to a conflict between rival unions. The management of mining company Gold One, which operates the mine near Johannesburg, and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) say the miners are being held as “hostages”. One person has reportedly been injured in the clashes so far.
