At least 58 people have died in a fire in a multi-storey building in Johannesburg, according to the emergency services.
The fire broke out before sunrise on Thursday morning.
More deaths are feared, said rescue service spokesman Robert Mulaudzi. About 200 people are said to have lived in the house.
43 other people were injured in the fire in a five-storey building in the city center, the spokesman for the rescue service told a local radio station in South Africa.
According to Mulaudzi, the cause of the fire was initially unclear. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. The building was evacuated.
Television images showed fire engines and ambulances outside the red-and-white building with windows burned out.
