Cause unclear

According to the Hungarian disaster management agency, all fires have now been extinguished. Four rescue helicopters and fire and rescue teams from nearby towns arrived on the scene to treat the injured. The road was closed in both directions for investigation and recovery work that continued late into the evening.

Little is known about the cause of the disaster. The manager of Hungary’s highways, Hungary’s Concession Infrastructure Development Plc., wrote in a Facebook post that a localized dust storm may have caused a sudden reduction in visibility.
