More than 3,000 people have participated on the popular race organized by Illa Carlemany with the Government of Andorra. In this year’s edition and under the motto ‘Move around Andorra 2027’the runners had a special motivation: reaffirm its support for the candidacy of the Alpine Skiing World Championships that the country chooses to organize in 2027.
After two years of absence due to COVID-19, the Day of Sport for All has mobilized people of all ages who have traveled the central streets of the country to carry out the 2km (children) and 5km (youth and adults) races.
In the event the team from the Technical Office of the bid has participated headed by the general director of the project, David Hidalgo as well as Joan Verduwinner of this year’s Giant European Cup, Cande Moreno Y Roger Puig of the Andorran Ski Federation (FAE), these last protagonists of the campaign to promote the Andorra 2027 candidacy.
They have also joined the sports festival, the President of the Government, Xavier Espot; the Minister of Culture and Sports, Silvia Rivera; the mayor of Canillo, Francis Camp or the mayor of Andorra la Vella, Conxita Marsolamong other institutional representatives. Hidalgo has been very satisfied with the convening power of the event affirming that “the high participation shows, once again, that in Andorra we have deep roots in sport, and in appointments like today’s we value very positively the support that the participants have shown with a country project such as the candidacy & rdquor ;. This is the last promotional action of the candidacy before the election of the venue of the 2027 World Cups. The vote will be held during the annual congress of the International Ski Federation (FIS) on May 25 in Milan where it will compete with proposals from Crans Montana (Switzerland), Garmisch Partenkirschen (Germany) and Narvik (Norway).
