Letting go of Jan Decleir as Santa on Netflix turned out to be the best move ever in Flemish film country. ‘De Familie Claus’ has already scored more than 22 million streams worldwide. “And if we determine that most people watch a family film with at least two people, we are quickly doubled,” says producer Anthony Van Biervliet. In America, Flanders’ first Christmas film camped in the top 10 for no less than three weeks. “No Flemish film comes close to what ‘De Familie Claus’ does”, explains film connoisseur and director Jan Verheyen. “This is really punishment.”
