More than 1,000 Belgians again bought Spanish casa | My Guide

Live.Spain remains the favorite country of Belgians who want to buy a second residence abroad. During the third quarter, 1,123 compatriots became owners of a casa or piso under the sun. In 2022, their total will increase to just over 3,500.

Official figures from the Estadística Registral Inmobiliaria show that the housing market on the Iberian Peninsula is running at full capacity. During the months of July, August and September, 167,892 sales were closed. In 28,595 of the cases it concerned new construction.

Foreigners had a share of just under 16%. The British were traditionally the most active, buying 2,446 houses and apartments, followed by the Germans (2,113), French (1,633), Romanians (1,205) and Belgians (1,1123). During the first six months of this year, 2,380 compatriots already bought a house on one of the costa’s. The Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol and the Canary Islands were the most popular this summer, followed by the Costa Calida and Costa Brava.

Many buyers also appear to establish their primary residence in Spain. At the beginning of this year, the number of Belgians residing there had risen to just under 37,000.
