More than 100 freshwater dolphins died due to heat and drought in the Amazon region

In the Brazilian Amazon, more than a hundred dead freshwater dolphins were found last week in Lake Tefé, in the northwest of the country. This was announced by a local research institute, Mamiraua. The exact cause of death is still under investigation, but it is believed that the heat and drought that are currently affecting the region have been fatal to the animals. For example, the temperature in the lake recently rose to 39 degrees Celsius.
