More shops and employment on the streets of North Holland

The shopping streets in North Holland are increasingly experiencing fewer vacancies and job opportunities have also grown, as shown by the North Holland Detail Trade Monitor 2022-2023.

This analysis examines trends and developments within the retail industry every year. The fact that the shopping streets in North Holland are becoming increasingly crowded is contrary to experts’ expectations. The expectation was that there would be more vacancies due to the corona measures. But it has fallen from 6.0% to 5.5% in 2022. According to the monitor, this is because corona support helped entrepreneurs survive, and they were sometimes able to open a new store in difficult times. The monitor states that no less than 22% of the retail properties surveyed have an inefficient energy label, varying between D and G. These shops are mainly found in old shopping streets or traditional main shopping streets such as Amsterdam, Haarlem and Alkmaar.
